Please wear sturdy footwear e.g. walking boots and dress for the conditions (see below Long Trousers). Please bring a bag you can carry e.g. a rucksack with a waterproof coat (and trousers if you have them), spare warm clothes (e.g a fleece, warm hat etc), water and snacks. Please also carry on your person any medication you need. You may also want to bring a sunhat and suncream.
Long trousers are advisable due to the presence of ticks and the associated risk of Lymes Disease (https://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/enjoy-dartmoor/planning-your-visit/safety-advice-for-outdoor-activities/tick-advice
Tick Advice | Dartmoor
Tick Advice. Ticks are arachnids, more closely related to spiders than to insects – they have eight legs. A fully fed tick will be three to ten times larger than their unfed counterparts.
The terrain will vary throughout the walk but due to the nature of Dartmoor it will be uneven, potentially wet and possibly muddy, good fitting sturdy waterproof footwear is highly recommended. It will also be likely beautiful, atmospheric, changeable and lots of fun!
