Join us on Saturday 3rd October for an introduction to Nordic Walking with Sue Holden
We will meet at the King George V Playing Fields to understand more about Nordic Walking and the benefits. We will then pop over to the Tally Ho afterwards for a coffee.
Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles to enhance your natural walking experience.
With a technique that is similar to the upper body action of classic cross country skiing, Nordic Walking becomes a genuinely whole-body exercise that can be enjoyed at many levels, at low, medium or high intensity. More than 10 million people globally enjoy this outdoor activity all year round.
At Exe Nordic Walking we work with you at your level, encouraging more movement and enjoying all the health benefits that come with being more physically active.
How will it benefit my body?
Nordic Walking combines the simplicity and accessibility of walking with simultaneous core and upper body conditioning similar to Nordic skiing. The result is a full body workout, which means that you:
- burn up to 46% more calories compared to walking without poles – increases maximum oxygen uptake and caloric expenditure
- release tension in the neck and shoulders
- improve your posture and gait
- strengthen your back and abdominal muscles
- reduce the impact on the joints
And because Nordic Walking doesn’t feel like hard work, you’ll be happy to walk further and for longer.
My passion for Nordic Walking has been growing over the last few years. Initially, I walked weekly on Haldon Hill with my good friend Heatherbelle. On snowy paths, through rain showers or sunshine, we worked out and chatted along the way, loving every minute. You will see me out and about Nordic walking in Exeter, please say hello!
Last September my daughter left home to start university. So I am taking the opportunity to share my love of Nordic Walking, and to start working and walking with you.
I’m keeping my courses and move more Nordic walks Exeter based, using our local open spaces and wonderful parks, there will be a bus stop near our meeting point, car parking or somewhere to lock up your bicycle.
